Below is an obituary from Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home:
CHELMSFORD, MA — Sandra Jean (Murray) Fraser, 85, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Bartlet Fraser with whom she shared 60 years of marriage until his passing in 2021.
She was born in Palmer, MA on June 22, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Albert M. and Villa (Glidden) Murray.
Sandra was an elementary school teacher who taught mostly third grade in So. Portland, ME, Lacey, WA, and Wilmington, MA. She retired from teaching in 2000. Sandra enjoyed traveling, including cherished trips to Aruba with her husband Ray, girls’ weekends in Maine, shopping, baking, gardening, and was an avid reader. She treasured any time spent at the beach. Sandra had a gift for friendship — from lifelong bonds formed in high school and among fellow teachers, to the warm community she built in Chelmsford and more recently in Hudson — she made friends everywhere she went and held onto them for life. Sandra cherished her family above all else. To her daughter Andrea and her son Lane, she was an unwavering source of love and support. She had a special place in her heart for her son-in-law John, who she loved dearly and delighted in spoiling with thoughtful gifts. Having grown up as an only child, Sandra was so grateful for the family she gained through her marriage to Ray — his siblings and their families became her own, and those bonds meant the world to her. She shared a truly special bond with her grandson Lane, who could do no wrong in her eyes, and she was endlessly proud of the young man he became.
Sandra leaves her daughter Andrea Freitas and her husband John of Lowell, her grandson Lane E. Freitas, and several nieces and nephews.
Sadly, she was predeceased by her son Lane Fraser and her granddaughter Taylor Gwendolyn Fraser.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at http://www.stjude.org.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 5pm – 7pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Her funeral service will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 9am in the funeral home. Interment to follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
