Dear Editor,
Character, integrity, honesty, and commitment are qualities that we should all strive for, but especially in our political candidates. Frank West running for re-election to the Wilmington Select Board embodies all of these qualities. A lifetime resident of Wilmington, Frank has embodied the spirit of volunteerism in our town for many years through Boy Scouts, Wilmington Minutemen, American Legion, and many town boards.
As both a Wilmington small business owner and historian, Frank cares about both the present and the past of the town. His knowledge of town history is second to none and he wants to see positive growth in Wilmington, while still trying to keep what’s left of its small town charm.
Frank listens to residents and values their opinions. As current Select Board chair he’s actually been criticized for taking too many public comments at meetings. Let that sink in for a minute. How in any way is that a negative for wanting the public to be heard? Letting the public have a voice at meetings is critical and something that Frank will always protect.
He doesn’t “follow the crowd” with his Select Board votes is not afraid to be in the minority of any vote. He always gives reasons for his votes and votes what he thinks are in the best interest of the residents of Wilmington.
As an avid follower of Wilmington politics, in my opinion, this year’s Select Board race is going to be very close. I’m hoping that Wilmington voters will consider giving one of their two votes to Frank West. He definitely won’t let you down.
