Below is information from the Connecticut State Police:
TOLLAND, CT — On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 10:40pm, a 2006 Mack CV700 Dump Truck was traveling westbound on Interstate 84 in Tolland, Connecticut. A 2026 Kia Sportage was traveling directly behind the Mack.
For an unknown reason, the Kia collided with the rear of the Mack, causing disabling
damage to the Mack and disabling damage to the Kia.
The operator of Mack, Kwame Stewart, suffered possible injuries and was transported to Hartford Hospital for an evaluation.
The Kia’s operator Paige Cooke and passenger Kristian Murphy, of Wilmington, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
