Below is an obituary from AM Cremation & Funeral Care:

BRADENTON, FL — Joyce E. (Smith) Tadgell, 92, of Bradenton, FL, died Thursday, August 6, at Tidewell Hospice House in Lakewood Ranch, FL, after a brief illness.

Born in Melrose, MA, she was the daughter of Rev. Dr. Burton B. Smith and Dorothy Q. Smith. She graduated from Springfield Classical High School in Springfield, MA, and attended American International College, where she met her future husband.

She leaves her daughter Kimberley J. Marchand and her husband Robert of Bradenton, FL, with whom she lived since relocating with them to Florida in 2020, her sister Dorothy Jean Dresser of Dripping Springs, TX, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Rev. H. Allen Tadgell, Jr., in 2019, and her son Mark A. Tadgell in 2016.

Being both a minister’s daughter and later a minister’s wife, the church was very central to Joyce’s life. She and Allen worked as a ministerial couple in the parishes where he served as pastor. Their longest and final pastorate was at Leicester Federated Church in Leicester, MA, where they served for 14 years. They also served at First Congregational (United Church of Christ) parishes in Winchendon, Wilmington, and Fairhaven, all in Massachusetts.

Joyce spent summer vacations at the family camp in Wolfeboro, NH, and enjoyed baking, reading, watching television, playing cribbage with Allen, and doing word games with her sister, Jean. She was an avid Red Sox fan.

No memorial services are currently planned. Memorial donations can be made to: First Congregational Church of Leicester and Leicester Unitarian Church. Both churches are located on Washburn Square, Leicester, MA 01524.
