WILMINGTON, MA — Patrick Anthony Taylor, Sr., 67, of Oxford, Maine, formerly a longtime resident of Wilmington, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at Maine Medical Center following a brief and sudden illness.
Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, on October 28, 1958, to the late Arthur Taylor, Sr. and Mary (MacDonald) Taylor, Patrick was educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Vocational Technical Institute in 1977. He later earned his Associate’s degree from North Shore Community College in Lynn, followed by both his Bachelor of Arts and Master’s degrees from Franklin Pierce University.
Patrick worked in several different fields before finding his calling as a cost accountant, a profession he enjoyed throughout his career while working for a number of employers.
Baseball was always Patrick’s greatest passion. He loved reminiscing about his days as a pitcher in his youth and never passed up the opportunity to visit his favorite sub shop in Lynn, Lena’s, where he always ordered a “regular.” He also enjoyed playing in men’s softball leagues in Stoneham and Wilmington.
Patrick was a dedicated youth sports coach, volunteering with Wilmington Travel Basketball and the Wilmington Recreation Basketball League (WRBL). He was known for passionately advocating for his players—often giving the referees a run for their money. You always knew Patrick was at one of his children’s games. Even if you couldn’t see him, you could certainly hear him before you walked into the gym.
Patrick is survived by his son, Patrick Taylor, Jr. and his wife, Katia DeStefano, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts; his daughter, Marjorie Taylor-Carroll and her husband, Matthew, of Oxford, Maine; and his beloved grandsons, Oscar, Giacomo, and Liam.
He is also survived by his siblings: Michael Taylor and his wife, Clarene, of Conway, South Carolina; Annemarie Amancio and her husband, Richard, of Lynn, Massachusetts; Christopher Taylor and his fiancée, Rena Carr, of Peabody, Massachusetts; Florence Taylor of Methuen, Massachusetts; Thomas Taylor and his wife, Melissa, of Muskegon, Michigan; Denise Byrne and her husband, Henry, of Greenville, South Carolina; Mary Magnuson of Lynn, Massachusetts; and Jean Gallo and her husband, Dan, of Lynn, Massachusetts. He also leaves his former wife, Maureen Taylor of North Andover, Massachusetts, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Patrick was predeceased by his brother, Arthur “Butchie” Taylor, Jr., and his brother-in-law, David Magnuson.
Visiting hours will be held at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 62), Wilmington, Massachusetts on Thursday, August 6th, 2026, from 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. A funeral home service will follow at 7:00 p.m.
A private burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Patrick’s family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wilmington High School Boosters Club.
