Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Department of Public Works:
WILMINGTON, MA — Please be advised that roadway widening, realignment, sidewalk work, utility work, and resurfacing work will be taking place along Salem Street, at the intersection of Woburn Street and Salem Street. The work will include roadway widening, realignment, inclusion of a lefthand storage lane (from westbound on Salem Street, to turn southbound on Woburn Street), new traffic signals and controller box, and resurfacing along this section of Salem Street. This work is being performed by a private contractor working for the developer of the Amazon facility at 800 Salem Street and has been reviewed and approved by the Town.
Installation of traffic management controls (i.e. temp signage, barriers, orange drums) are scheduled to begin on Wednesday August 12, 2026, and expected to be completed by Friday August 14, 2026. Two-lanes of alternating traffic are expected to be maintained during this time but there may be brief periods of delay for commuter traffic.
The following is an anticipated 3-week schedule provided by the Contractor. Full road closures are not anticipated to carry out this work, however, as construction progresses there will be intermittent lane closures and alternating traffic around the work zone resulting in minor traffic delays. We ask that everyone please obey the directives of police details and warning signage during this operation.
