WILMINGTON, MA — Mark Madigan, age 69, of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026.
Born on April 25, 1957, in Lowell, Mark was the beloved son of the late John Madigan, Jr. and Florence M. (Landry) Madigan. He was raised and educated in Wilmington.
Mark spent most of his career doing what he loved as a professional truck driver with a CDL. He dedicated fifteen years to Transmate. He later spent four years with Ryder before retiring. He took great pride in his work and the life he built through determination and very hard work.
Outside of work, Mark felt most at home on his Harley-Davidson. Few things made him happier than the freedom of the open road, especially his annual rides to Laconia, New Hampshire, for Bike Week. To him, it was never just about the destination—it was about the ride, the friendships, the stories, and the memories made along the way. He enjoyed weekends rocking out with his crew hanging at the Tiki Bar and TJ Callahan’s.
To know Mark was to love him. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without ever expecting anything in return. His generosity knew no limits, and his heart was as big as they come. He was always just one phone call away—whether you needed help fixing something, advice, or simply someone to make you laugh. If you knew Mark, you knew you could count on him.
Mark never met a stranger. Whether he’d known you for twenty years or twenty minutes, he’d strike up a conversation and make you feel like an old friend. Everywhere he went, someone seemed to know him, and if they didn’t, they usually did by the time he left.
He had an incredible mind and seemed to know a little about everything. No matter the question or problem, he usually had an answer. His wisdom, paired with his quick wit and unique sense of humor, made him someone people naturally gravitated toward. He had a gift for making others smile, even on their hardest days.
Above all, Mark was a devoted father. His children were his greatest pride, and the love he had for his family and the family he built out of his dear friends was unwavering. He was the best father, the best friend, the best brother, the best uncle, and the kind of person whose love and loyalty left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
A proud member of the Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks, Mark valued the friendships he built through the organization and the sense of community it brought to his life.
Mark is survived by his loving daughter, Amanda M. Madigan and her partner Raiffi Castillo and son Mark A. Madigan; his cherished grandchildren, Mark Jr., Railee, and Avaleze; his siblings, John Madigan, Richard Madigan, Mary Theresa LeClair, and Kathy Madigan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas Madigan and William Madigan, his sister, Elizabeth Marsden, and his parents, John Madigan, Jr. and Florence M. Madigan.
He also shared a special bond with his “sister from another mister,” Michelle, and held a special place in his heart for his loving niece, affectionately known as “Bumblebee.”
Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Mark lived life exactly as he wanted—with kindness, laughter, loyalty, and love. His legacy is not measured by the miles he drove or the years he lived, but by the countless lives he touched with his generous spirit and unwavering willingness to help others.
We will forever miss his laugh, his stories, his advice, and the comfort of knowing he was always just a phone call away. His love will remain with us always, and every ride down an open road will remind us of the incredible man we were blessed to call Dad, Grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, August 10th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held at Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, on Tuesday, August 11th, at 11:30 a.m.
