OBITUARY: Frances Mary (Picardi) Marotta, 85

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Frances Mary (Picardi) Marotta passed peacefully at home on Monday July 13, 2026, with her beloved husband by her side and family in her heart after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born January 4, 1941, Frances was the oldest of four children born to her dear parents Generoso and Rosina Picardi. Frances was raised and educated in Medford Ma, one of her proudest accomplishments was perfect school attendance.

She started her career as an office assistant for the Town of Medford, only leaving her dream job to marry, move to Tewksbury and care for four children while her husband attended school. As a family they moved to Georgia for several years for Al’s job before returning and purchasing their forever home in Wilmington. She was a devoted and caring Mom, always present and attentive throughout their childhood and immensely proud of sending all four to college. With her children grown she returned to work at Avco, St Thomas Church and finally retiring from the IRS.

Frances was friendly and compassionate to all she met and would always strike up a conversation with anyone, often strangers. She was never at a loss for words, always offering food and comfort to all, she never forgot a single occasion by sending punctual cards to all her family and friends and was a lifelong lover of a good cup of coffee.

There was rarely a dull moment when Gram was around, and her grandchildren speak fondly of her questionable driving skills while bringing them to CCD and swimming lessons.

She was a true animal lover and treated her pets as she did her family, especially her companion Shelbie who she took everywhere.

She held dear memories of traveling to New York City to visit and care for her brother and touring Europe with Terry, Marianne and Nicole.

Frances will be forever missed by her loving husband Albert of 62 years, daughter Teresa Turner and husband Andrew of North Andover, son Paul Marotta of Wilmington, daughter Lisa Bevilacqua and fiancé Chancey Barbato of Wilmington and Marianne Marotta of Stowe Vermont. Gram was adored by her grandchildren Laura Turner of Texas and Rachel Turner of Kentucky, Nicole Marotta of Wilmington, Brian Bevilacqua and Alycia Peters of Woburn, Brandon Bevilacqua and wife Mikaila of Litchfield NH, Michael Bevilacqua and fiancé Courtney Hogue of Burlington and Willow Nichols of Stowe Vermont. She also leaves behind dearly loved great-grandsons Liam Patrick Hansen of Wilmington, Renner James Bevilacqua of Woburn, and was eagerly awaiting the birth of Brandon and Mikaila’s son due in September. She will also be missed by her furry grandsons Harley and Ryder who knew they could count on Gram for treats every day.

She is survived by her baby sister Roseanne Fuller and husband Robert, nieces Amanda Fuller, Tammy Fuller and fiancé Jimmy Men, Matthew Carrozza and wife Jilliane and son Cooper. Brother-in-laws George Marotta and wife Helen, Richie Marotta and late wife Sandra, Phillip Marotta, sister-in-law Janice Lysak and many dear nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by her sister Mary Carrozza and husband Jerry, nephew Dean Carrozza, brother John Picardi, sisters-in-law Joan Beard, Mary Blair and Phyllis Carapelluci.

Our family wishes to thank her oldest and dearest granddaughter Nicole for her unwavering devotion, friendship, loving care and compassion which brought her grandmother peace in her final days as no one else could.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Thursday, July 16th from 12:00 – 1:– p.m. followed by Service at 1:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
