WILMINGTON, MA — Richard C. Borghetti, age 76, of Lawrence, formerly of Wilmington and Haverhill, passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2026.
Richard was born on Feb. 16th, 1950 in Waltham, MA as the cherished son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (Nordbloom) Pupa Borghetti. Richard was raised in Wilmington as part of a large and loving family. Richard attended Wilmington High School where he played football and graduated in 1967. He continued his education at Lowell Technical College, later University of Lowell and then University of Massachusetts at Lowell, where he studied engineering.
Richard had a love for sports, especially football, and his family, with whom he loved reminiscing about their childhoods together. He always had a positive outlook on life and approached things with a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.
Richard is survived by his loving sister Elizabeth “Betsy” (Borghetti) Dillon, of Maine, and his sister-in-law Virginia “Ginny” Pupa of Wilmington. Richard was predeceased by his brothers Andrew D. Pupa, Tony Pupa and his wife Phyllis, Gerald “Jerry” Pupa, Ronald “Ronnie” Pupa and his brother-in-law David Dillon. Richard is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and other extended family.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 62), Wilmington, MA on Monday, July 20th, 2026 from 12:00-1:00 P.M. A service at the funeral home will follow at 1:00 P.M. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA, where he will be laid to rest with his parents.
