MILFORD, MA — Dorothy Louise Cantino passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts, with her loving daughter by her side, after a sudden period of declining health.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Steve Cantino. She was previously married to Thomas James (“Sonny”) Travaglia, the father of her children. She was the cherished daughter of William Francis Fyfe and Charlotte Louise (Mortell) Fyfe and was born in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Dorothy grew up in Somerville and later resided in Wilmington and Reading, Massachusetts. She spent time living with her daughter, Linda, before moving to an assisted living apartment in Franklin. Most recently, she was a resident of the Coleman House in Northborough.
Dorothy graduated from Somerville High School, where she studied business. Although her mother, Charlotte, encouraged her to continue her education, Dorothy was happily engaged and married Thomas (“Sonny”) Travaglia the month after graduation. She followed in her mother’s footsteps by becoming a lifelong learner. Without attending college, Dorothy earned her own education through reading, curiosity, experience, and a deep understanding of people and the world around her. She became an intelligent and wise scholar of life, saying, “It is the education of who we become.”
She was a fantastic cook and baker and always made time to provide the best meals for her two children. Dorothy loved music and spent many joyful years ballroom and country-western dancing with her best friend Joyce Kiesman. She is survived by her firstborn, daughter Linda, son Bobby and his wife Judy, and their daughter Sophia. She loved her family and is predeceased by her siblings: William Edward Fyfe, Shirley Loretta Cunninghan, and Ronald Frederick Fyfe.
The funeral home service will be held Tuesday July 14, 2026 at 9 A.M. from the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford. The burial will be held at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Londonderry, New Hampshire. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4 to 6 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
