VALLEY, RI — Elaine Dorothy Webber, 80, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and the animals she cherished throughout her life.
Born on December 18, 1945, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Elaine was the beloved daughter of John Edward Jarvis Jr. and Alida Beatrice Jarvis. She was raised in Central Falls, Rhode Island, where she attended Holy Trinity Elementary School, graduating with the Class of 1959, and later graduated from Central Falls High School as a member of the Class of 1963. She continued her education at Katherine Gibbs College, preparing for a rewarding career dedicated to helping others.
On August 1, 1970, Elaine married Lawrence Allen Webber in Central Falls, Rhode Island. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and adventure. They began their life together in Wilmington, Massachusetts, then moved to Scituate, Massachusetts, before eventually making their home in Richmond, Rhode Island. Elaine had a passion for travel and embraced every opportunity to explore the world, particularly throughout Europe. Ireland held a special place in her heart, where she researched her family’s ancestry and connected with her Irish heritage. Elaine and Larry also shared memorable adventures together, including a trip to the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska and scenic rides on their Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Elaine built a meaningful career as a Teacher’s Aide with the Chariho Regional School District, where she touched the lives of countless students through her patience, kindness, and genuine care. She found great fulfillment in supporting children and took pride in making a positive difference in their lives.
Elaine loved spending time with her family and creating memories that would last a lifetime. She especially enjoyed watching her daughter, Nicole Webber Reilly, compete in horse shows throughout her childhood and faithfully attended Nicole’s horse shows, soccer games, and basketball games, always offering love, encouragement, and unwavering support.
She was a loving and devoted mother to Nicole Webber Reilly and was proud to welcome her son-in-law, Thomas Reilly Jr., into the family in 2003. Her greatest joy in life was being “Grandma” to her beloved grandchildren, Ellie Madeline Reilly and Cooper John Reilly. She treasured every moment with them and was their biggest supporter, never missing a horse show, soccer game, basketball game, or band performance. She delighted in singing French songs with Ellie and Cooper, playing with teddy bears, launching Stomp Rockets together in the yard, taking them out for ice cream, and making special trips to Panera Bread. Whether cheering from the sidelines, applauding at a concert, or simply spending time together, these moments became treasured family traditions, and her grandchildren will forever cherish the love, laughter, encouragement, and unwavering support she gave them.
Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved Aunt Dorothy Workman, Uncle Bob Workman, and cousin Gregg Workman. Dorothy was much more than an aunt—she was one of Elaine’s closest lifelong friends. Together they shared countless holidays, family gatherings, celebrations, and cherished memories over the years. Elaine is lovingly remembered by her cousin, Kerri Workman Miller, along with many other extended family members, lifelong friends, neighbors, and former colleagues.
A devoted animal lover, Elaine had a special place in her heart for animals of all kinds. Throughout her life she especially loved her horses, Bandit, Serenity, and Nutmeg, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She also cherished her beloved dogs, Bailey and her rescue dog, Scotty—affectionately known as “Scotty Moo”—who was adopted through Save A Lab Rescue. Both brought Elaine immeasurable joy, unconditional love, and faithful companionship. Her compassion extended beyond people, and she found immense joy in caring for the pets and wildlife that crossed her path.
Elaine will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, unwavering loyalty to those she loved, and her quiet strength. She had a remarkable gift for keeping life organized and took pride in creating a warm, welcoming home where everything had its place. Beneath her calm and thoughtful nature was a playful side, and those who knew her best treasured her dry sense of humor and the silly moments that could bring laughter to any gathering. Whether supporting a student, caring for an animal, cheering from the sidelines for her family, or exploring new places, Elaine always gave her whole heart. Her greatest legacy is the love she shared with her family. She taught those around her the importance of kindness, compassion, and being present for the people you love. Her family will forever cherish her warm smile, gentle spirit, quick wit, and the countless memories they created together.
She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved by all whose lives she touched.
Funeral and memorial service arrangements will be announced by the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Save A Lab Rescue, in honor of Elaine’s lifelong love of animals and in memory of her cherished rescue dog, Scotty (“Scotty Moo”), whose companionship brought her endless happiness.
