OBITUARY: Patricia A. Kleynen, 79

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Patricia A. “Pat” Kleynen, a longtime resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Winchester Hospital. She was 79 years old.

Born in Lowell on August 7, 1946, Pat was the cherished only daughter of the late Louis “Lou” and Margaret “Sis” (Hennessy) Kleynen. She was raised and educated in Wilmington and was a proud graduate of Wilmington High School.

Pat devoted many years of her career to the Internal Revenue Service in Andover before her retirement. A knowledgeable, dependable, and dedicated employee, she earned the respect of her colleagues and formed many lasting friendships throughout her years of service.

Family was the center of Pat’s life. She shared a close bond with all of her brothers, but held a special place in her heart for her niece Jodie and nephew Lucas. She treasured her large extended family of cousins and looked forward to every family gathering, holiday celebration, and the memorable pool parties at the family home on Salem Street, where everyone was always welcomed with open arms.

Pat also cherished the many lifelong friendships she made over the years and loved spending time with those closest to her. She found joy in simple pleasures, especially relaxing at the beach, dipping her toes in the surf, camping in Wareham, and enjoying time on Cape Cod.

A gifted and creative woman, Pat had a passion for making jewelry, crocheting, and creating ceramics. She lovingly shared her many handmade creations with family and friends, leaving them with treasured keepsakes that reflected her generosity and thoughtfulness.

After the sale of her longtime family home, Pat moved to “The Woods” in Methuen, where she embraced her new community with the same warmth and enthusiasm that defined her life. She quickly made many new friends, enjoyed participating in community activities, and was happiest when surrounded by others.

Pat will be fondly remembered for her cheerful disposition, kind and helpful nature, and beautiful smile. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone she met feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Pat was the beloved daughter of the late Louis and Margaret (Hennessy) Kleynen; the devoted sister of the late Louis “Bud” Kleynen and his late wife, Nancy; John “Jack” Kleynen and his wife, Debra, of Maine; and the late Kevin Kleynen. She was the loving aunt of Jodie McDonough and her husband, Sean, of Tewksbury, and their children, Jake and Molly; and Lucas Kleynen and his wife, Tia, of Fitchburg, and their children, Owen and Gemma. Pat is also survived by her extended family of cousins and many dear lifelong friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather for Visiting Hours at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Avenue (Route 62), Wilmington, on Thursday, July 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the family lot at Wildwood
