WILMINGTON, MA — Eric J. Rachdorf, age 55, of Nashua, NH, formerly of Wilmington, passed away on June 28, 2026, following a courageous battle with ALS.
Born on December 7, 1970, in Boston, Eric was the cherished son of the late Robert A. and Judith A. (DeCato) Rachdorf. He was raised in Wilmington and graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical High School. During his youth, Eric proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Troop 56, an accomplishment that reflected his dedication, perseverance, and strong character.
Following his graduation from high school, Eric proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy on July 2, 1991. He completed boot camp in San Diego and faithfully served until receiving an honorable discharge on May 20, 1992.
After his military service, Eric built a successful career in information technology. He was known for his exceptional technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities, working for many years in IT desk support with Azzure Company in Tewksbury.
In 2020, Eric married the love of his life, Sherry L. (Champoux) Rachdorf. Throughout Eric’s courageous battle with ALS, Sherry remained his unwavering source of strength, comfort, and care. Her devotion and compassion were a true testament to their love and commitment to one another.
Eric enjoyed spending his free time immersed in his favorite hobbies. He was an avid video gamer, loved watching movies, and was a devoted sports fan who especially enjoyed cheering on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Eric will be remembered for his resilience, intelligence, love of family, and the quiet strength with which he faced life’s greatest challenges. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Eric was the beloved husband of Sherry L. (Champoux) Rachdorf; the devoted father of Damian Rachdorf and Katrina Rachdorf and her fiancé, Chris McAneny; the dear brother of Kurt Rachdorf and his wife, Michelle, of Boston; and a loving stepfather to Dalton Lanphere and Alexis Levesque. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Avenue (Route 62), Wilmington, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eric’s name may be made to The ALS Association, 1919 University Avenue West, Suite 175, St. Paul, MN 55104.
