Wilmington Students Travel To Florida For The “Oceans To Orbits” STEM Themed Field Trip

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington High School students traveled to Florida from, April 1, 2026 to April 5, 2026 for the STEM (science technology engineering math) themed trip. Science teachers Julie Kim and Marlene King along with 14 of their students spent five days in Florida.

The trip began with the LIVE watching of the Artemis II launch off the coast line in Titusville.

They also visited the Daytona International Speedway, Eckard College, Embry Riddle College,
the Kennedy Space Center and the Mote Aquarium.

In Daytona, they toured the engineering and mechanical labs of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and met students servicing jet plane engines. At the Daytona International Speedway, they rode a tram through the gigantic facilities and they were able to sign their name on the actual finish line!

The group spent a day on the Gulf Coast and toured Eckerd College where they learned about sustainable farming and visited the Mote Marine laboratory learning about marine life.

The group spent a full day at the Kennedy Space center where they were able to experience a shuttle launch simulation as well as see the Space Shuttle Atlantis, standing under a Saturn V rocket.

In addition, the group spent a whole fun day at Universal Studios to enjoy the rides and experience all the science and technology needed to create such an immersive experience.

Lastly, the group also attended a talk by a Disney Imagineer who explained some of what goes into creating interactive rides and exhibits at Disney.
