Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Police Department:
WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Police Department would like to remind residents that all solicitors and canvassers operating in the Town of Wilmington must comply with local bylaws, Chapter 5, Section 40.
All solicitors are required to apply for and possess a valid Town of Wilmington solicitation license. Solicitors and canvassers must also exhibit their license upon request from any resident.
Approved soliciting hours are:
— Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
— Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
— Sunday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
The Wilmington Police Department is committed to enforcing compliance with existing bylaws and will not tolerate aggressive or inappropriate solicitation behavior. Violations may result in appropriate criminal referrals and enforcement action.
If a solicitor arrives at your property without a proper Town of Wilmington badge, please contact the Wilmington Police Department business line at 978-657-5071. If you feel threatened or in fear for your safety, call 911 immediately. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
