WILMINGTON, MA — Earle B. Olson, age 99, of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 1, 1927, Earle was the beloved son of the late Guy T. and Ethel B. (Briggs) Olson. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, a service he carried with great pride throughout his life.
On November 8, 1951, Earle married the love of his life, Frances G. (O’Hare) Olson. Together they shared more than 60 devoted years of marriage before Frances passed away in July of 2012. Earle was a dedicated husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose greatest joy was his family.
Prior to his retirement, Earle enjoyed a long and successful career with General Motors, where he served as General Manager of the Parts Division for more than 38 years. He was respected for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to those he worked alongside.
Earle will be deeply missed by his loving children: William Olson and his wife Denise of Aragon, GA; Karen Johnson of Nashua, NH; Bob Olson and his wife Barbara of Wilmington; Edward Olson and his wife Bre of Nashua, NH; and Cheryl Blaisdell and her husband John of Westford. He was the cherished grandfather of Christopher Olson and his wife Kara, Elizabeth Brockman and her husband Justin, Emma Olson, Matthew Blaisdell, Meaghan Blaisdell, Jacob Olson and his wife Kristen, Sara Olson, and Christian Olson. He also leaves behind many adored great-grandchildren.
Earle was the dear brother of Jean Williamson of Wilmington and was predeceased by his siblings Robert Olson and his wife Hope, Richard Olson and his wife Trudy, and Shirley Poore and her husband Dick. He was also predeceased by his brothers- and sisters-in-law Dave Williamson, Elizabeth Goodwin, Helen Farrell, and Margaret Najarian. Earle is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to gather for Visiting Hours on Thursday, May 14, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Avenue (Route 62), Wilmington. A funeral service celebrating Earle’s life will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 15, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment with Military Honors at Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
