WILMINGTON, MA — Chris A. Spanos, 57, affectionately known as “Papou,” of Wilmington, and a proud member of a well-known Greater Lowell family, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 25, 2026, while enjoying a round of golf.
Chris was the beloved husband of Amy M. Raber, with whom he shared 10 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on August 30, 1968, he was the son of the late Charles G. Spanos, Sr. (2025) and the late Carole G. (Hodgdon) Spanos. Chris was educated in Lowell schools and graduated from Greater Lowell Technical High School, Class of 1986. A standout student-athlete, he served as captain and was a league all-star in baseball, and also excelled in hockey.
Chris went on to earn a Bachelors in Safety Engineering from Kennedy Western University. He built a long and successful career with Crothall Facilities Management based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, where he worked for over 28 years and rose to the position of Senior Vice President of Operations.
A passionate sports enthusiast, Chris enjoyed golfing, bowling, music, and dancing, and was a certified scuba diver. He was also an avid Boston Sports fan.
In addition to his wife, Chris is survived by his two daughters, Karisa B. Tilton and her husband, Dr. Nicholas Tilton of Houston, Texas, and Paige L. Spanos and her significant other, Johnny Iacobucci of Berlin, Connecticut. He was a proud grandfather to Audrey Tilton (Mini) and a grandson on the way. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Thibodeau and her husband, Tim of Spring, Texas; his sister-in-law, Nancy Spanos of Lowell; his brothers-in-law, Ron Morrissey of Hudson, New Hampshire, and Robert P. Raber, Jr. and his wife, Renee, of Dalton, Ohio; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was the husband of the late Audrey (Dalton) Spanos (2013), and his siblings, Charles G. “Chuck” Spanos (2023) and Charlene A. Morrissey (2024).
Friends may call at the O’DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. in LOWELL on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 4 to 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service to be held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the TRANSFIGURATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH in LOWELL at 11 o’clock followed by his burial at the Westlawn Cemetery.
