Dear Editor,
In this day and age, politics is sadly too focused on division. Even in our town, it can be easy to make elections about sides: young vs. old, kids vs. seniors, lifelong residents vs. new arrivals.
While other candidates might stir that pot at whatever cost to win, not all do. Gary DePalma has my vote for reelection because he is really, truly, an advocate for all of Wilmington. He does the work and considers every aspect of an issue without bias.
For example, Gary supported the new senior center because our seniors deserved a beautiful new building that could bring them together for many years to come. Now, he’s campaigning for increased senior housing to improve affordability for seniors.
He’s helped neighborhoods fight back against big developers, as well, standing up for local control first and foremost.
Last year, he came out early and supported the new PreK-5 school to make sure our students got the safe, educationally-appropriate building they deserved, too.
I’m voting for Gary because he looks at every issue and asks a simple question: is it right for the town? Other candidates may have agendas when they look at Wilmington, but Gary thinks of us, the residents, first.
Gary is experienced, principled, and hard working, and has delivered for our town. I humbly ask that you join me in voting to reelect Gary DePalma on Saturday, April 25th in our town election.
Warmly,
Nick Golden
