Dear Editor and the Wilmington Community,
April 19th through 25th marks National Library Week, and this year’s theme, “Find Your Joy,” couldn’t be more fitting for the Wilmington Memorial Library.
I have personally found immense joy within its walls—whether through their diverse programming, expert tech assistance, or simply meeting friends in the comfortable seating areas. Beyond an impressive book collection, the library offers extraordinary resources like the “Library of Things,” mobile hotspots, and extensive online databases.
What truly sets our library apart, however, is the atmosphere. Every visit begins with a warm greeting, and the staff is undoubtedly the happiest and most dedicated group I have encountered. They are constantly innovating to better serve us, from the food pantry and social worker visits to engaging multi-generational programs. They even continue to maximize our community space with clever additions like the new “Talk Box” acoustic booth.
I urge every resident to visit the library this week to rediscover this incredible resource and offer a word of thanks to the staff. If you haven’t stopped by in a while, or have never been, please take a moment to check it out. It is truly one of Wilmington’s greatest treasures.
Thank you, WML, for keeping our community educated, supported, and inspired.
Sincerely,
Joy Lemay Friend of the Library and E-Board Member
