Dear Editor,
I am strongly endorsing Michael Mercaldi for Wilmington School Committee. I do so because of his experience, long-range vision, and passion.
Mr. Mercaldi’s experience is a great asset to the school committee and the district. His work in the private sector as a senior executive in science driven start-up companies gives him a unique perspective on many different topics we address. In particular his work at these executive levels was the reason I suggested he join the group negotiating some of our most important personnel contracts this year.
Mr. Mercaldi’s long-range vision is consistent and clear. As an example, during our budget discussions, both with the full committee and the budget subcommittee, he is consistently encouraging the district to consider all time frames, short term, medium term, and long term. He works to do what is best for our students at all times, but is always taking the town’s finances and taxpayer concerns into consideration in these discussions.
Mr. Mercaldi’s passion for the students and educators is evident at all times. He is focused on the needs of all of our students. He works consistently to think of what our educators need to do their work supporting our students. His professional work shines through with his passion for increasing STEM education for all of our students.
