OBITUARY: Louis A. Intoppa, 76

Below is an obituary from Dello Russo Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Louis A. Intoppa, age 76, of Wilmington passed away on Sunday, April 30th, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center of Burlington. Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Louis J. and Judith (Scarfo) Intoppa. Louis was a former teacher and administrator in the Burlington school system. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Medford Lodge of Elks, and a member of the Medford Sons of Italy.

Being Italian, Lou loved planting his vegetable garden, which is only 25 by 60 feet. He was proud of gardening and enjoyed giving vegetables to everyone. Flowers were something he also planted everywhere, and he loved all types and colors. Traveling was Lou’s joy. Since he was a history teacher, he loved seeing things in real life compared to textbooks. Cruising was his favorite form of travel because he had sun, food of all types, and gambling. Lou also had a passion for cooking and loved typing out new recipes or just throwing stuff together in a pan and creating a wonderful, tasty dish, which happened every time. Most importantly, he loved and valued his family and friends.

Louis was the beloved husband of Barbara (Bovee). He was the devoted father of Joyce Reilly and her husband Dennis of Wakefield, Louis J. Intoppa and his wife Jennifer of Medford, and David Intoppa and his wife Julie of Wakefield. Louis was the proud grandfather of Julianne, John, Brian, Lacey, Colin, Ava, Leo, Callie, Benjamin and Joseph, and the dear brother of Lenora Sciacca and her husband Joseph of Arlington.

A funeral service will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Monday, May 8th at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with family on Sunday, May 7th from 3 through 7 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Louis’ name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, or to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development/Jimmy Fund, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
