OBITUARY: Josef L. Junek, 87

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Josef L. Junek, age 87, of Wilmington, MA, peacefully went home to God on April 12, 2023.

Josef was born on June 16, 1935, in Vienna, Austria; he was the dear son of the late Anna J. (Lechner) Junek and Josef A. Junek.  Josef was raised and educated in Austria; he immigrated with his mother to Montreal, Canada, when he was 20 years old.

Josef met “his sweetheart” Dolly Hellstrom and the couple married on August 27, 1960.  Josef and Dolly settled in Montreal where they started their family and resided until April of 1968 when they came to the United States. Josef and Dolly settled in Everett, MA, for a few years before moving to Woburn, MA, where they raised their children; they spent the last 30 years in Wilmington, MA.

When Josef came to Massachusetts, he enrolled in Northeastern University in Boston where he graduated in 1975 with a bachelors degree in respiratory therapy.   Josef went on to take a position as a respiratory therapist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where he worked for many years.  Josef had a great work ethic; he was kind and caring with his patients as well as their families.  In his later years, Josef, worked at Winchester Hospital where he again had a great reputation and was well liked by the patients and staff.

Josef will be fondly remembered as a great father and a wonderful family man.  Josef was also a man of great faith and lived by the word of God.  Josef was kind, caring, and a loving man; he will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Josef was the beloved husband of Dolly H. (Hellstrom) Junek, devoted father of John Junek of Lakeland, FL, Daniel Junek and his wife Susan of Nashville, TN, and Ruth Wheeler of Casa Grande AZ, loving “Opa” of Nathan, David, Rachel, Olivia, Luke, Amy, Janice, John Alexander, and great-grandchildren Liliana, Annabelle, Elizabeth, Natalie, Jason, and Logan.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for a graveside committal on Saturday, April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody, MA.  A Service to Celebrate Josef’s life will follow at 12:00 noon at Countryside Bible Chapel, 480 Lowell St., Lexington, MA.  A time of visitation and refreshments with the family will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Church Hall.
