WILMINGTON, MA — Stephen A. Evans, age 77, of Wilmington, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family, on March 23, 2023.
Stephen was born on January 23, 1946 in Woburn, MA; he was the cherished son of the late Donald and Barbara (Flaherty) Evans. Stephen was raised in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School.
Following graduation, Stephen enlisted in the U.S. Marines on November 5, 1963. He served in the Marines for four years before being honorably discharged as a Sergeant on November 3, 1967. Stephen was extremely patriotic and was very proud of his military service.
Stephen’s family was most important to him; he was so proud of his two sons, Jason, and Grant. Stephen enjoyed spending time with his sons and his grandchildren, especially enjoying a Patriots game at the stadium or on T.V.
Stephen met his wife, Karen L. (McNeill) Evans, over twenty years ago. They settled in Wilmington, where they made many wonderful memories with their families, including spending time in the backyard and enjoying holidays together.
In his spare time, Stephen was an avid reader and an antique car enthusiast. He looked forward to attending car shows and loved to check out the antique cars that were there.
Stephen was the beloved husband of Karen L. Evans, devoted father of Jason Evans & his wife Roslynne, and Grant Evans & his wife Andrea, loving “Papa” of Henry Evans and Benjamin Evans, dear brother of Barbara “Peach” Evans and Tracy Lawrence & her husband Darrin. Stephen was also very special to Richard & Ellen Trevisone, Joseph Trevisone, and Katie & Greg Jordan. He was “Grandpa Stephen” to Nicholas, Tiffany, Timothy, Lil Nick, Isabella, Kyle, Jacob, Sophie, and Wendy. Stephen is also survived by many loving cousins.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, March 31st from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon immediately followed by a Memorial Service with Military Honors at 12:00 noon.
Memorial donations in Stephen’s name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
