Below is a press release from the Wilmington High School PAC:
WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington High School PAC hosted their first Staff Appreciation Luncheon on the early release, Teacher In Service Day, last Wednesday. The newly formed PAC conducted surveys earlier in the school year to gather information from the WHS staff and students asking what events they would like to see and what makes them feel appreciated. The PAC then challenged the students to give a Teacher Shout Out to the teacher they most admire.
Wednesday’s luncheon was provided by AJ’s Kitchen and the event featured raffle prizes and a presentation by the Student Council. Student leaders, Madison Benoit, Neda Stoeva and Maria Cummings, read aloud 32 “Shout Outs” from fellow students. A few Shout Outs included; “I’m shouting out Madame Veliz, for being super flexible and helping me make my ideas come to life. She’s never said no to an idea I’ve had, and has always done her best to make it happen. Thank you so much!” and “Ms. Mcgown, such a calm and amazing teacher. She talks to us like people and not just a student. We have fun and laugh all the time.” “Mrs. Tucker has been a person I know I can go to if I have any problems or need support in the school.” The Shout Outs were anonymous allowing the students to share their true feelings about their experience at Wilmington High School.
The Staff Appreciation Luncheon was well received by the staff with many thanks shared between staff and the parent volunteers. The PAC is working to organize a student event in the Spring to bring the Wilmington High School community together as one! Donations and support for the Spring event are welcome!
