AMESBURY, MA — Gloria Claire (Cloutier) Knowlton, 89, wife of Robert M. Knowlton, died on October 27th at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH. Born in Amesbury, MA, she was the daughter of the late Hercule and Cora (Gaudette) Cloutier. She was a graduate of Amesbury High School, class of 1951.
During her working career, Gloria was a quality control supervisor at General Electric in Wilmington, MA. She also worked at Modicon in Andover, MA.
Gloria enjoyed ice skating, dancing, motorcycling, teaching country line and couples dancing and hosting karaoke events with her husband. She was an active member of the Ladies Guild at Sacred Heart Church in Amesbury, MA and Saint Peter Church in Farmington, NH.
She is survived by her husband, Robert M. Knowlton of Farmington, NH; three sisters, Theresa Quinn and Jeanne Shennett of Amesbury, MA and Delores Tebo of Lawrence, MA; two sons, Jeffrey Morgan of Seabrook, NH and Wayne Morgan of North Londonderry, NH; brother, Richard Cloutier of Salisbury, MA; eight grandchildren, Stephen Morgan, Jamie Morgan, Sarah Marchant, Joshua Morgan, Jacob Morgan, Samantha Morgan, Timothy Morgan and Katherine Morgan; eleven step grandchildren, Brandon Wyatt, Kerry Miffitt, Brian Knowlton Jr., Victoria Binns, Greer Knowlton, Erik Hawksley, Kirsten Hawksley, Kira Mazur, Kaitlyn Mazur, Arianna Mazur and Matthew Mazur; five great grandchildren, Kailey Fink, Jaxx Marchant, Alexi Marchant, Hayden O’Grady and Jordan O’Grady; and one step grandchild, Eleanor Miffitt. Gloria was predeceased by her first husband, Roy Morgan; brother, Armand Cloutier; and eldest son, Steven Morgan.
Gloria’s graveside funeral service was held at Rosedale Cemetery Extension, intersection of School Street and Pleasant Street in Manchester by the Sea, MA 01944, on November 7th at 1:00pm. Relatives and friends were invited to attend. The family had a Celebration of Life for Gloria at the Barn Pub & Grille, 5 Ring Street, Amesbury, MA 01913, November 26th from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Gloria’s name to Wentworth Homecare & Hospice via The Amedisys Foundation, 9 Andrews Road, Somersworth, NH, 03878.
