Below is a press release from the Wilmington Rotary Club:
WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Rotary Club is pleased to announce that the next Community Ice Bucket Challenge will be held at Rotary Park on Saturday, August 27, 2022. Starting at 10:00 am, everyone is invited to enjoy the pleasure of dumping of ice water over their head!
As in years past, all donations in any amount will be forwarded to the Angel Fund of Wakefield. The Angel Fund is an organization committed to finding a cure for A. L. S. also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Through the work of Dr. Robert Brown at the UMass Medical Center, progress has been made but the cure hasn’t yet been achieved and additional funds are still needed. As in past years, ALL monies donated are fully donated to further this important research.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a neurological disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function eventually resulting in death. Unfortunately too many Wilmington families as have all communities have been touched by A. L. S. Funding for further research is so very critical as the possible cure may impact on other neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s disease.
We welcome your participation with Rotary members on Saturday, August 27th to take the Challenge. There’ll be plenty of buckets, ice and water. Please bring a donation in any amount and all monies collected will be donated to further research. T date this event has raised nearly $ 30,000 for this important cause.
If you’re unable to join us on August 27, donations may be mailed to the Wilmington Rotary Club, P.O. Box 503, Wilmington, Ma. 01887 or you may donate online at https//theangelfund.org.
Thank you and don’t forget a towel.
