Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Robert J. Magaldi, “Bob”, age 74, of Wilmington, MA, formerly of Charlestown and Malden, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on May 23, 2022.
Bob was born in Boston, MA, on September 22, 1947; he was the dear son of the late Fred and Rose Magaldi. As a young boy, Bob grew up in Charlestown, MA, where he attended elementary and middle school, he made many life-long friends and belonged to the Bunker Hillbillys. Bob moved from Charlestown to Malden at the age of 15 but was always a “true townie” at heart. When Bob’s family moved to Malden he attended Malden High School and graduated with the Class of 1965. Bob went on to continue his education; he attended East Coast Aero Tech in 1966-1967 then on to Coyne Electrical in 1973.
Bob started a long and rewarding career with the Boston Gas Company which changed hands to Mass Electric and then to National Grid. Bob worked hard, saw many changes in the utilities industry and was instrumental in countless improvements to the systems that power our lives. He made many friends with his co-workers as well as his customers; all attributes that made him successful throughout his 35 year career.
Bob married his “high school sweetheart” Linda McLaughlin in 1968; the couple moved “up country” to Wilmington 48 years ago and raised two wonderful sons. Bob was a very devoted and loving husband, dad and Papa; his family was his world and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them. Bob looked forward to more than 52 summers at the family cottage in Antrim, New Hampshire, on Franklin Pierce Lake. He loved spending time there with family and friends, he enjoyed fishing, boating or just “hanging out” on the waters edge. Bob adored his four grandchildren and his role as “Papa”; he was so proud of his family and all of their accomplishments.
Bob was known to be a “Jack of all trades” and a talented carpenter; he completely renovated his home in Wilmington, his cottage in New Hampshire and restored many family heirloom pieces of furniture.
Bob will be fondly remembered as a great guy, a wonderful family man, a good friend and neighbor. He would go out of his way to help anyone in need; he was positive, upbeat and fun to be around. Bob loved his family and friends unconditionally and will forever be in the hearts and minds of those who loved him.
Bob was the beloved husband of Linda M. (McLaughlin) Magaldi, devoted father of Robert S. Magaldi and his wife Leah of North Andover and Jamie M. Magaldi of Billerica, loving “Papa” of Hailey, Gabrielle, Madelyn and Joseph. Cherished son of the late Frederick and Rose (Passanisi) Magaldi, dear brother of Frederick Magaldi of Michigan, Marie Arinello of Virginia, Dorothy Mock of Florida and the late Joan Magaldi. Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families.
Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Wednesday, May 25th from 9:00-11:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA, at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
