OBITUARY: Lisa M. (Murray) Velozo, 56

WILMINGTON, MA — Lisa M. (Murray) Velozo, age 56, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 27, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Lisa was born in Malden, MA, on June 4, 1965; she was the cherished daughter of John “Jack” Murray and Marie (Mainey) Murray of Wilmington. Lisa was raised and educated in Wilmington and a graduate of Wilmington High School with the Class of 1983.

Lisa married the “love of her life” Joseph Velozo on October 10, 1992; the couple shared many wonderful times with their family and friends before Joe’s sudden passing in 1993, which broke her heart.

For many years, Lisa, worked as a currier for Federal Express in Wilmington where she formed lots of friendships with her co-workers.

Lisa will be fondly remembered for her beauty inside and out; she had a great personality and smile that lit up a room. Lisa was friendly towards everyone, never judgmental, she was always willing to help anyone and she loved to have fun.

Lisa’s strength and perseverance throughout her illness was amazing; she fought hard never giving up.

Lisa’s family and friends were her world; she loved them with all her heart and she will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lisa is survived by her son Michael Coles of Methuen, she was the beloved sister of Donna Sullivan & her husband Dennis of Wilmington, John Murray & his wife Enge of Tewksbury, Pam Carroll & her husband Bill of Chester, NH and Frank Murray & his wife Tricia of South Boston. Dear Aunt of Jaclyn & Mark Costello, Dennis & Leigh Sullivan, Nikki & Jared Melillo, Monique & Paul Horsman, the late Carl Giannelli, Christian & Jaymie Murray, Frank Murray, Patrick Carroll, Lauren Carroll, Dermot Murray, Maeve Murray and Ronan Murray. She was the sister-in-law of Frank & Joanne Velozo and Wayne & Kelly Velozo. Lisa is also survived by her companion Blaise Wentzell, her best friend Darlene Kelley, as well as her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Family and friends will gather for Visiting Hours at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, November 1st from 4:00-8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial for Lisa will take place on Tuesday, November 2nd at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
