Below is an announcement from Wilmington Community Television:
ANNOUNCING WCTV’S WILDCAT TV PATREON PAGE!
WCTV is excited to launch the Wildcat TV Patreon page: www.patreon.com/wildcattv.
This page is the place where you can view the video content WCTV produces at Wilmington Schools online. We will post all recent videos as well as special live streams. This is the only place online for you to view videos of the sports, concerts, and events at Wilmington Public Schools.
Please note, that we will continue to broadcast all Wildcat TV content on cable television for cable subscribers to watch. You can check our program guide online and DVR all Wildcat TV on our cable television channels. WCTV will never put meetings of local government or the content of our independent producers behind a paywall.
Wildcat TV is brought to you by Wilmington Community Television- your town’s non-profit, independent, cable television studio.
You might be wondering why you should join the Wildcat TV Patreon. Wilmington Community Television has been in Wilmington since the 1980s! We are a resource for any Wilmington resident to learn skills in video production to create their own show or capture the local events that matter to them. We strive to cover as many Wilmington events as we can and in recent years we have produced more programming than ever!
Unfortunately, WCTV is facing a serious threat! Year after year, Wilmington residents are “cutting the cord” to their cable providers in favor of streaming “over the top” services like Netflix, Paramount Plus, Disney Plus, and Hulu. WCTV does not receive any funding from the Town of Wilmington for the services we provide. Our funding comes directly from Comcast and Verizon, based on the number of cable subscribers we have in town. In the past few years, our income has dropped significantly. To put it simply, we can no longer afford to give away video content online.
The other problem we face here at Wilmington Community Television is a lack of volunteers. With volunteers dwindling, WCTV staff is taking on more projects than ever to continue to bring you the video content you have come to expect. You can help!- Volunteer training is free to all residents of Wilmington. Capture the events that matter to you, your family, and your students.
WCTV wants to continue bringing you the concerts, athletics, and academic content you have come to expect. Whether you join the Patreon for just a month to view a special program or choose to support us year-round we are grateful for your support. Thank you! Go Wildcats!
