Log every minute you read on Beanstack (our reading tracking app) to lead WIlmington to victory. We also have paper logs available at the library for those who prefer to track by hand. There will be a weekly drawing for a $25 gift card to any Wilmington restaurant of your choosing. Log at least 3 hours of reading and be entered into our Grand Prize drawing for a $100 gift card to any local business of your choosing. Let’s get reading! Challenge ends on November 24.

VIRTUAL The Loch Ness Monster with John Horrigan

Join New England Emmy Award-winning folklorist John Horrigan and explore the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, a creature in Scottish folklore that is said to inhabit Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. Come and learn whether Nessie is the real deal or a mysterious folklore creature of the deep. Horrigan is the award-winning host and co-creator of “The Folklorist” television series, which offers a captivating look at some of the lesser-known occurrences in history.

VIRTUAL 50+ Job Seekers Networking Group

If you are unemployed and actively looking, underemployed, seeking a new career direction, re-entering the job market after a long employment gap, or recently retired and looking for your “Encore Career”, this networking group program is perfect for you. Each meeting features a new topic. Meetings include a presentation and hands-on workshop on topics relevant to career transition, guest speakers, access to hiring managers, small group breakout rooms to network, and 1-on-1 coaching guidance. This week’s topic (Nov. 3) is Networking 2.0 – “You Must Give To Get!”.

Follow the 17th century document trail to confirm what we really know about the Mayflower.  Serving as the New England Representative for the Essex England Record Office, Linda brings a unique perspective to the event that brought ancestors of more than 30 million Mayflower descendants around the world to these shores.

VIRTUAL Beyond the Mayflower and 1620: Native Americans of New England with Prof. Christoph Strobel

Thursday, November 4, 7 pm

Professor Christoph Strobel will present an interpretive history of the indigenous peoples of New England. This talk will not attempt to provide a comprehensive history, but, rather, by focusing on a few select case studies, historic sketches, and biographies from throughout New England, we will explore the story of Native Americans in the region.

INDOOR Pints + Pages Book Group

A social book group geared towards readers in their 20’s and 30’s. The group meets on the first Thursday of every other month. The book discussion will be hosted by librarians from the Wilmington and Reading Public Libraries. Meeting location rotates between Wilmington and Reading. Register online for location.

Build with LEGOs at the same time as other LEGO fans outside the library.  At the end, you can share what you made during the time. Grades K-5

A Note about storytimes:

Grab your jackets and your blankets to bundle up and get ready for some fun outdoor fall storytimes! Our storytimes include books, rhymes, music and movement.

In the event of inclement weather,  recent rain/snow causing the ground to be saturated, or temperatures under 55° or above 85°, storytime will move INDOORS.

WML In-Person Programming

Registration is required for most in-person programs. If a program is outdoors and inclement weather is forecast, the program may be held virtually on Zoom or inside the library.  Please check out website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are required required inside Town buildings regardless of vaccination status.
