WILMINGTON, MA — Robert J. (Prescott) Ringer, “Rob”, age 55, of Billerica, passed away suddenly on September 26, 2021, due to complications of a heart attack.
Rob was born on August 6, 1966, in Lowell, MA; he was the son of Carol A. (Shrier) Lamont and Ralph Ringer. Rob grew up on the Wilmington/Tewksbury line. Rob, his sister, Lee Ann, and their cousins were all raised as siblings and had so many great memories growing up together. Rob attended Tewksbury Public Schools and graduated from Shawsheen Valley Tech in 1984, where he learned the machine shop trade.
As a teenager, Rob went to work for Joe Pace; he learned so much from Joe in the concrete business. He worked for many years before starting his own company, Concrete Plus. Rob loved his work as a concrete finisher and made many great friends in the industry.
Rob met his wife, Dawn A. Ransom, at a family gathering over twenty-five years ago. They instantly connected and were married four years later. They moved to Billerica in 2003, where they raised their only son, Robert Maxwell Ringer.
Rob’s main passion was to go fishing; at six years old, he would head up to Silver Lake and spend hours trying to catch fish. Throughout his life, Rob kept his love of fishing; he enjoyed trips with family and friends. He was known for always throwing the fish back into the water.
Rob loved to have fun; he was the life of the party around his friends. He had a great sense of humor; he enjoyed telling jokes and goofing around. Music was Rob’s world; he could often be found singing karaoke, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd or any other song that came on.
In his spare time, Rob enjoyed watching sports. He was known for his passionate reaction to the television, especially if it was the Patriots or Bruins playing.
Rob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Rob was the beloved husband of Dawn A. (Ransom) Ringer, devoted father of Robert M. Ringer of Billerica, cherished son of Carol Lamont & her husband Alex of Methuen and Ralph Ringer & his wife Margo of Saugus, dear brother of Lee Ann Ringer & her fiancé Robert Proulx of Londonderry, NH, son-in-law of Judith Ransom and the late Tim Ransom of Billerica, brother-in-law of Tim Ransom of TX and Heather Ransom of Billerica, special uncle to Travis Ransom. Rob was the loving nephew of Brenda & Roy Carr of Wilmington, Deborah & Brian Steele of Brockton and Earl Shrier of Brownfield, ME. Rob was also very special to Jacqueline Kabiru & her husband Kevin of Ayer and Alexandra Sims & her husband Christopher of Concord. Rob is survived by his Prescott family, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved dog, Henry.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, October 4th from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place in the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church Street, Wilmington, on Tuesday, October 5th at 11:00 a.m.
Rob made the selfless decision to save others’ lives through organ donation; his family has requested memorial donations in Rob’s name may be made to the New England Organ Bank, 60 1st Ave., Waltham, MA 02451 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
