Below is a letter from Wilmington School Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand:
Dear Parents/Guardians, Families (of current & former Wildwood students) and Staff,
As you may recall, earlier this year the Wilmington Public Schools engaged in an independent investigator to conduct an investigation into allegations of misconduct brought forth against staff at the Wildwood School during the 2020-21 school year.
The investigation is now complete, and we have asked the investigator who conducted the review to share an executive summary of his findings at a Superintendent’s Meeting on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 7pm. The meeting will be held at the Wilmington High School in the Large Group Instruction Room.
Following the investigator’s report, I will provide updates on the important steps WPS is taking to ensure that our internal policies, trainings, handbooks and reporting procedures are in line with our central goal of ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all WPS students.
For health and safety precautions and to make sure we have enough seats for community members, we are asking individuals to register if they will be attending the 8/23/2021 community meeting. (Editor’s Note: The deadline to register was Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 5pm.)
For those who are unable to attend the meeting in person, WCTV will stream it live and provide a recording of the meeting on their website (www.wctv.org).
Glenn Brand, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
