Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Helen K. Darling (Peitzsch), of Chichester, NH, formerly of Wilmington, MA, died peacefully with her family by her side on February 12, 2021.
Helen was born in Wilmington, MA on September 19, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Getrude Peitzsch of Wilmington. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School Class of “1949”. Helen was the loving wife of the late Frank E. Darling, Jr., also of Wilmington. Having Celebrated 65 years of marriage together, they raised six wonderful children… whom if you were to ask anyone of them “Who kept your family so strong and united?” All of them would say “My Mom.”. She was the quiet strength that held us all together.
Helen was a woman of many talents. It was a rare occasion that you would not see her without a knitting project, crocheting, embroidery, painting or just enjoying a good game of cards. Especially a game or two of solitaire just before the rest of the family woke while brewing the first pot of coffee. First and foremost was the pride she had in her family.
Helen was the mother of the late Frank E. Darling, III and wife Regina, William Darling and wife Lorrinda, Jonathan Darling and wife Lorna, David Darling and wife Joan, Yvonne Lagomarsino and husband Kevin Foreman, Michelle Doucette and husband Dennis. She was the loving Grandmother known as “Nana” to Tamie Cassidy, Frank E. Darling, IV, Lance Darling, Stephanie Aspen, Christopher Darling, Jeremy Darling, Christina Morehouse, Eric Darling, Stacy Upham, Greg Darling, Paul Korpi, Jimmy Korpi, David Darling, II, Kyle Doucette, and Joseph Doucette.
Her legacy also includes 24 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great-grandchildren. All of whom she was able to hold as babies and celebrate many of their milestones in life.
Helen died at the age of 89, although she has now transitioned to her next journey, she will forever be in our hearts and memories.
We hope our family and friends can join us in our final tribute to our mother Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 2:00 p.m. where our mother will be laid to rest with her husband and son.
