WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Friday, May 7, 2021:

#1) DEADLINE TODAY: BeyondTOPS To Hold Online Raffle & Fundraiser

BeyondTOPS is holding its annual raffle and auction fundraiser online this year due to COVID-19. More than 35 prizes are up for grabs. The fundraiser runs from April 17, 2021 through May 7, 2021. Click HERE to view the prizes, purchase your raffle tickets, and/or make some bids.

Beyond TOPS is a 501c3 non profit organization whose sole purpose is to integrate children with mental and physical disabilities into the community through sports.

The organization strives to bring children of all abilities together, through physical activity, to make our community and those around us stronger.

BeyondTOPS offers completely free sports and social programs nine months of the year. In the fall and spring, soccer is offered. In the winter, basketball and bowling are offered. In addition, the organization organizes dances, lunch with Santa, and sensory friendly movies.

#2) DEADLINE: Wilmington Travel Basketball Scholarship Opportunities For Graduating Seniors

The Wilmington Travel Basketball (WTB) will award TWO $1,000 scholarships in 2021 to Wilmington High School seniors that participated in Wilmington Travel Basketball.

The recipients of each scholarship will be determined by the members of the WTB Board of Directors using the information provided within this application. The decision of the WTB Board of Directors is final.

Completed applications and materials must be emailed to Joe Maiella, President of Wilmington Travel Basketball, using the following email address: josephmaiella@gmail.com.

The deadline for submission is May 7, 2021.

#3) LIBRARY EVENT: Outdoor Preschool Storytime

This 10am storytime for preschoolers includes books, rhymes, and music. The program will be held behind the library next to the Peggy Kane Reading Garden. Please bring a blanket or low chairs. Ages 3-5 Masks are required for all attendees ages 5 and up and strongly encouraged for children ages 2-5. If inclement weather is forecast, the storytime may be held virtually on Zoom. #4) LIBRARY EVENT: Virtual Needleworkers

If you do any kind of needlework, this group, which meets at 10am, is for you. Work on a project and learn from others while enjoying a little conversation and camaraderie. Email Assistant Director Charlotte Wood for Zoom link (cwood@wilmlibrary.org).

#5) LIBRARY EVENT: Virtual Social Justice Service Group

Join us over Zoom for a Social Justice Service Group meeting at 3:30pm! This month we will watch and discuss Monster the day the film based on Walter Dean Myers’ groundbreaking YA novel premieres on Netflix. You will earn community service hours for attending. Grades 9-12. This virtual club is a joint program hosted by the Burlington Public Library, Tewksbury Public Library, and Wilmington Memorial Library. Register HERE.
