The Wilmington Memorial Library is hosting an Anti-Racism Author Talk wit E. Dolores Johnson via Zoom at 7pm.

E. Dolores Johnson’s book Say I’m Dead is a true story of family secrets, separation, courage, and trans-formation through five generations of interracial relationships. Fearful of prison time—or lynching—for violating Indiana’s anti-miscegenation laws in the 1940s, her black father and white mother fled Indianapolis to secretly marry in Buffalo, New York.

E. Dolores Johnson earned degrees from Howard University and Harvard Graduate School of Business. After a career in tech, she took an MFA equivalent course to learn creative writing and currently lives in Cambridge, MA. Her writing focuses on the evolution of attitudes on interracial relationships throughout American history. She has written for Narratively, Buffalo News, Lunch Ticket, The Writer of Color Anthology: Boundaries and Borders, and Pangyrus. Johnson has also consulted on diversity for universities, major corporations, and nonprofits.

This program is offered in collaboration with Memorial Hall Library.

This is an online event via Zoom. An invite will be sent at least thirty minutes prior to the start of the program to the email given at registration. Please be sure to check your clutter/junk/spam boxes if the invite does not appear in your inbox. Register HERE.
