Wilmington Tennis Open Cancelled
The Friends of Wilmington Tennis has announced its Third Annual Wilmington Tennis Open, typically held on the second Saturday in August, has been cancelled.
“Thank you to EVERYONE for your support,” reads the announcement. “Due to the Covid19 pandemic, we have to cancel the 2020 WTO. Stay safe and healthy and we’ll see you in 2021!”
Wilmington Recreation Department Still Has Openings In Its Tennis Programs
Tennis Clinic – August 10 – 14 at the Wilmington High School Courts
Have fun on the courts as you spend a full week developing a strong forehand, working on your serve, volleying with other, and playing matches! This program is for kids entering grades 6 – 9, cost is $110 per participant. Classes will run each day from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Tennis Basics – August 17 – 21 at the Boutwell Courts
Tennis anyone? Learn or improve your skills for this life-long sport! Equipment will be provided if needed, cost is $40 per participant. This program has openings for the following age groups:
- Ages 4 – 5 (9 – 10 a.m.)
- Ages 6 – 8 (10 – 11 a.m.)
