Below is a press release from International Monetary Systems (IMS) New England, owned by Wilmington resident Kraig Bloom:
CHELMSFORD, MA — Small businesses in all industries are already feeling the economic impact of “social distancing” measures, but there is hope for the marketplace: time-tested bartering of goods and services between businesses.
Local barter exchange International Monetary Systems (IMS) New England Owner and President Kraig Bloom states, “Bartering has always been good for businesses. But at a time that cash-flow is critically impacted, trading the goods and services that you have, for something you need, makes sense.”
When many businesses are closed, or if open, seeing much less foot-traffic and sales at a time when they may have too much inventory, it’s an excellent time to be innovative to increase cash-flow.
“We are seeing business owners open to innovative ways of doing business, such as bartering, at a time when traditional sales methods have slowed way down,” Bloom says. “Consider what inventory or services your company can offer to a broader community of new barter clients. Businesses can engage through a barter exchange, like IMS New England, to trade goods and services locally, but also across IMS nationally.”
Small business owners can bank the value of their goods or services to use and apply across a variety of needs, including; food delivery and restaurant take-out, office furniture and products, clothing, home goods, pet items, pest control, and more.
Bartering activity has increased drastically around the country, including with IMS, as reported on Bloomberg.com (March 31, 2020), “Barter, the trade system prevalent in the Middle Ages, is back in the time of coronavirus pandemic, with a modern twist.”
