WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington House of Pizza was the big winner at Monday night’s 4th Annual Pizza War held to raise money for the fight against cancer. Over 450 people joined in the fun to sample and then to vote on their favorite pizza. It was outstanding that there were over 200 more people who participated this year. The event was sponsored by Relay for Life of Wilmington-Billerica-Tewksbury. 7 restaurants competed.
A big thank you to the Relay For Life of Wilmington-Billerica-Tewksbury Event Leadership Team (ELT) for coordinating this year’s pizza war and to both the 99 Restaurant & Pub and Creative Edge Pools for donating beverages for this year’s event.
Other Wilmington entries were EJ’s Fresh Pizza Grab & Go, LaRosa’s, Rizzo’s Roast Beef & Pizza, Pizza Mia & Uptown Deli, and Tremezzo Pizzeria. The sole representative from Tewksbury was Anthony’s Roast Beef & Pizza.
Wilmington House of Pizza was awarded “Best Cheese Pizza,” Rizzo’s Roast Beef & Pizza was second, with Tremezzo Pizzeria finishing 3rd. Wilmington House of Pizza also won “Best Specialty Pizza” with their kid’s entry being a crowd favorite. In second was EJ’s Fresh Pizza Grab & Go and tied for 3rd were LaRosa’s and Tremezzo Pizzeria.
This is the fourth year that Wilmington House of Pizza won the contest. Heidi Jelev, co-owner of Wilmington House of Pizza, was humble and grateful for their victory. Wilmington House of Pizza is a Main Street business that has been a part of the community for 40 years.
All of the restaurants were happy to be at this community event and to support the fight against cancer. There were many specialty pizzas featured at this year’s event.

As for Relay For Life of Wilmington-Billerica-Tewksbury, it is an overnight family fun-filled experience that will be held on June 19, 2020 at Wilmington High School There will be music, entertainment, games, food and more as the community joins together to celebrate, remember, and fight back against cancer.
