WORCESTER, MA — The Assumption Department of Athletics has announced that Michael Curtis, of Wilmington, has been named to the roster of the 2019 Assumption Baseball team. Curtis, Class of 2018, will compete during the Greyhounds’ spring season, which began in late February with a three-game series at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, followed by nine games during their annual spring break trip to Florida.
“The 2019 baseball season has gotten off to a great start for us,” said sixth-year Head Baseball Coach Mike Rocco. “After concluding our spring break trip with a record of 8-4, we have been ranked regionally in the last three weekly polls. In addition to our success on the diamond, the team earned an average GPA of 3.14 for the fall semester and participated in a number of community service events, including helping out with Northbridge Little League’s Winter Clinic. We are very excited about what lies ahead for us this season and hope that we can carry our early success into our conference schedule.”
The Assumption Baseball team opened the season 5-0, earning a sixth place ranking by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association in early March; the team began the season ranked ninth. The team was ranked sixth in the Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coach’s Poll for this upcoming season.
