GIRL POWER: Wilmington Girls Earn Trip To NHL All-Star Weekend After Winning Hockey Tournament At Garden

BOSTON, MA — Two Wilmington 10-year-old girls are on their way to the NHL All Star Weekend in San Jose, CA this weekend after winning a Boston Bruins-sponsored hockey tournament at TD Garden.

Julia Lambert and Shae Gould, of Wilmington, along with teammates Cecelia Riiff, of Andover, and Bella Krokos, of Everett, won the “Bruins Academy’s TD Bank Mini 1-on-1” competition in November. These talented players went undefeated in the Girls 10-and-Under category in this popular 3-on-3 tournament.

The girls play together on the North Shore Vipers, based out of Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury.

In addition to being part of the top team, Julia Lambert also won the shootout portion of the competition. As a result, she will be one of 14 kids nationwide to participate in a “Mini 1-on-1” shootout during All-Star Weekend. Lambert, who will be representing the Bruins, will be the ONLY girl in her age group competing for the title of best shooter in the country. The other 13 finalists are boys.

The girls are thrilled to have earned an all-expenses-paid trip to All-Star Weekend and look forward to attending the All Star Game, All Star Skills, and Fan Fair.
