BOSTON, MA — BFit’s 3nd Annual First Responder Challenge will take place on Sunday, January 27, 2019, from 9am to 1pm, at TD Garden. This one-of-akind event invites local first responders and fitness enthusiasts from across New England to participate in a course throughout the Garden. It also offers families and friends a day filled with activities and fun, including a kid’s obstacle course, touch-a-truck, Bruins alumni, and Bruins mascot Blades.
The event takes place to raise awareness around health and wellness and to support The 100 Club of Massachusetts, a charity that supports the families of law enforcement officers and firefighters who are killed in the line of duty.
Both the Wilmington Police Department and Wilmington Fire Department are once again participating in the Challenge and raising funds for the 100 Club. Donate to the Police Department’s efforts HERE and to the Fire Department’s efforts HERE.
Over the past year two years, the Wilmington Fire Department has been recognized as the highest fundraising Fire/EMS team, collecting approximately $29,000. Firefighter Chuck Taylor was the highest individual fundraiser at more than $7,500. The Fire Department received the BFit Cup in a ceremony at the Public Safety Building and was able to facilitate the donation of a full set of street hockey equipment, valued at $1,000, to the Woburn Street School in 2017 and the Shawsheen Elementary School in 2018.
