WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Saturday, November 17, 2018:
Weather: Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. West wind 5 to 9 mph.
Town Yardwaste Recycling Center: The Recycling Center, located off Old Main Street at the Wilmington/Woburn line, will be open for leaf and brush drop-off from 9am to 4pm. Only Wilmington residents will be allowed to use the facility for leaves and brush drop-off. Residents must show an ID at the entrance to the facility. No grass clippings will be accepted. No contractors or commercial vehicles will be allowed. Residents using the Recycling Center must purchase a punch card for $15 which will be good for 5 visits to the center. Punch cards may be purchased Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Treasurer’s Office at Town Hall. Cards purchased previously that have unpunched visits are still valid.
At Wilmington Public Schools: The Wilmington High School’s Lamplighters’ Drama Guild is ready to entertain you with its production of She Kills Monsters. Shows will be held on Friday, November 16 at 7pm and Saturday, November 17 at 2pm and 7pm in the Wilmington High School Auditorium. Tickets cost $5 for students, seniors (65 and over), and military, and $10 for adults. Tickets can be purchased in advanced at http://www.WilmingtonCATS.org or http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3821891. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
In The Community: The Aleppo Shriners will be holding its annual Festival of Trees on Friday, November 16 (5pm to 8pm); Saturday, November 17 (10am to 5pm); and Sunday, November 18 (10am to 4pm) at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road). This event features a large number of beautiful trees with lots of presents to raffle. The event also features Photos with Santa, Holiday Music, Delicious Treats, DIY Holiday Crafts, Scavenger Hunt, and Aleppo Clowns, plus the HONS Craft Fair. Admission costs just $1. (Children 3 and under are free.) Proceeds from the event will benefit the Aleppo Shriners General Fund. In The Community: Shawsheen Valley Technical High School (100 Cook Street, Billerica) is hosting its 11th Annual Fall Fair from 9am to 3pm. With well over 100 tables, there is certainly something for everyone. Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity to knock off some holiday shopping, or better yet, treat yourself to plenty of gifts.
In addition to the many craft and vendor tables, there will be delicious bake sale table that you won’t be able to resist. The KIDS ZONE is back by popular demand—bring the kids along for face-painting, manicures, balloon art, pictures with Santa Claus, a petting zoo and MORE! Indulge your sweet tooth, take a chance on raffle items (each prize over $100 value), or simply enjoy a slice of pizza from Wicked Cheesy with family and friends, while strolling through the building. Admission is FREE! Proceeds will benefit the Shawsheen Tech FreshStart Orientation Program and Alumni Scholarship Fund.
In The Community: St. Thomas (126 Middlesex Avenue) is holding its Annual Craft Fair from 10am to 3pm. The fair will feature a variety of crafters and vendors, plus a children’s game table, bake table, and a HUGE raffle table. Raffle prizes include a 50″ flat screen TV, Fitbit, and wine baskets. Coffee, donuts and lunch will be served.
In The Community: The Wilmington Congregational Church (200 Middlesex Avenue) is holding its Fall Church Fair from 9am to 2pm. Come and enjoy the fair with a wide variety of selections, including: White Elephant Room, Jewelry Table, Crafts, Silent Auction, and all sorts of food, including Breakfast, Lunch, Baked Goods, Candy & A Cookie Walk.
In The Community: The Shawsheen Tech will be holding registration for their upcoming “Winter Learn to Swim” Program. Stop by the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School from 9:30am to 12:15pm to register your child for the program. In The Community: The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less! Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library.

In The Community: 6th, 7th and 8th grade students living in Wilmington are invited to join the Wilmington Youth Center and enjoy being part of a community that offers a safe place to hang out with your friends and have fun! The Wilmington Youth Center, located inside Villanova Hall (126 Middlesex Avenue), will be open every Saturday night, from 7pm to 9:30pm, from November 17, 2018 to March 30, 2019.
