Happening Today:

Weather: Sunny, with a high near 48. Breezy, with a northwest wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

In The Community: Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) invites customers to attend an Open House from 3pm to 6pm at RMLD’s Garage located at 218 Ash Street, Reading. This fun and educational event will feature bucket truck rides, face painting, kid’s games and prizes, pumpkin decorating, a lineman dress-up activity for the kids, lineman demos, and a plug-in electric vehicle showcase. RMLD staff will offer education on electricity, electrical safety, energy conservation, and information about RMLD rebate and efficiency programs. The event will also feature free snacks and music.

In The Community: The Shawsheen Valley Technical High School’s Guidance Department invites all interested families to its annual College & Career Planning Night, from 6pm to 8pm, in the school’s gym. All participants will receive a “College & Career Planning Guide,” a pen, a College & Career Checklist and a new Shawsheen Tech drawstring bag to carry your information in. With over 80 representatives from colleges, universities and the military, it will be well worth your time. For more information regarding the College and Career Planning Night, please contact the Guidance Department at 978-667-2111 x616. The Shawsheen Tech is located at 100 Cook Street in Billerica.

In The Community: The Wilmington SEPAC and Tewksbury SEPAC are holding a Basic Rights in Special Education Workshop 6pm to 8pm at Tewksbury Memorial High School (320 Pleasant Street, Tewksbury). Attendees will receive an introduction to the complex special education laws and procedures.  Topics include: Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Massachusetts Laws; Evaluations and Referrals; The Team Meeting; Individual Education Program (IEP) and 504 Plans; Effective Progress; Transition; Review of Important Timelines; and Strategies for Success. All families are welcome.  No RSVP is necessary.  If you have a question, email tewksburysepac@gmail.com.

In The Community: The Wilmington Community Chorus rehearses every Thursday, from 7pm to 9pm, at St. Elizabeth’s (4 Forest Street). New members welcome. No tryout required. Learn more HERE.
