LETTER TO THE EDITOR: School Committee Member Jennifer Bryson Endorses Judy O’Connell For State Rep

Dear Editor and Residents of the 19th Middlesex District,

I am writing to express my sincere, personal and heartfelt endorsement of Judy O’Connell for our next State Representative. As a candidate with prior municipal government experience, Judy is focused on supporting education and particularly special education initiatives, veterans’ affairs, elderly services, combating the opioid crisis, smart economic development, infrastructure improvements such as roads, bridges, transportation and sidewalks, public safety and taxes to name a few. Judy is a thoughtful leader and deeply committed to public service. The residents of the 19th Middlesex District would be incredibly fortunate to have Judy representing them at the state level.

Judy has worked tirelessly for the residents of Wilmington as a former elected member of the School Committee and The Board of Selectmen. Her leadership as Chairman on the Board of Selectmen was most impressive and if you follow town politics, you know that Judy was an agent of change and devoted to listening to the concerns and needs of the residents. Judy was a strong advocate for funding Wilmington’s full-time Health and Recovery Coordinator and believes in the importance of early education and community-based prevention programs. She has consistently addressed the opioid crisis and supported individuals and families who are battling addiction by promoting recovery treatments. As an educator, parent and voter, I am struck by Judy’s ability to address this epidemic with a myriad of solutions, compassion and care. This one example has demonstrated that Judy will approach all issues with deep integrity, intelligence and thoughtfulness.

During her tenure on the Board of Selectmen, Judy was instrumental in the development of the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility. As the chairman of the Yentile Farm Development Committee, Judy oversaw this project from beginning to end. This beautiful park, completed under budget, has quickly become a part of the fabric of the Wilmington community and surrounding towns. It is common to see residents of all ages utilizing this facility for its basketball courts, turf field, playground and walking trails. In 2017, the Boston Society of Civil Engineering awarded the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility with the Sustainability in Civil Engineering Award. Judy doesn’t just get the job done, she completes projects at such a high level of excellence and precision. She is focused, diligent and incredibly humble.

Judy’s community volunteerism and public service are among the finest example of any citizen I know. The list is immense, but in addition to her elected positions, Judy has served as a member of the Wilmington Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer coach for the Massachusetts Bay State Games and Wilmington Little League, a volunteer for the Massachusetts Special Olympics, and a member of the Wilmington Scholarship Committee. To learn more about Judy, I urge you to visit her campaign site at www.JudyForStateRep.com.

I am committed to the continued progress of our towns. It is our responsibility to vote for the right candidate to be our representative in local government. I cannot think of anyone more suited and prepared to serve as our State Representative than Judy O’Connell. Please join me in casting your vote on September 4th for Judy O’Connell for State Representative.

Very truly yours,

Jennifer Bryson
