OBITUARY: Rocco V. “Chuck” DePasquale, Jr., 59

WILMINGTON, MA — Rocco V. DePasquale Jr., fondly known as “Chuck” to his family and friends, passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2018.

Chuck was born on November 28, 1958, in Somerville, MA. He was the cherished son of the late Rocco and Rita (Lydon) DePasquale. Chuck was raised and educated in Wilmington, MA and was a member of a large and loving Italian family. Chuck attended Wilmington Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1977.

Following high school, Chuck worked with his family at Rocco’s Restaurant in Wilmington, a favorite local spot in town. Chuck, along with his brother Mattie, took over running the family business following the retirement of their father, Rocco. Chuck worked hard for many years. He had a wonderful personality and was great with the customers. Chuck welcomed everyone with open arms and made you feel like a part of the family whenever you entered the restaurant. He always greeted everyone with a big smile or hug. Chuck was also incredibly generous to the community. He and his brother Mattie sponsored many functions and dinners for local sports teams, community fundraisers and events. This did not go unnoticed as they were honored with the Wilmington “Good Guy” award in 2005 for their outstanding citizenship. “Good Guy” epitomized Chuck and was an award which he so richly deserved.

In 1994, Chuck married the “love of his life” Denise Foley. The couple had two beautiful daughters, Samantha and Lauren, and they were the light of his life. Chuck loved his family with all of his heart and there was not anything he would not do for them. Chuck and Denise, along with their girls, enjoyed many wonderful times throughout the years. These memories will be forever cherished. Denise also has a big family, in which almost all twenty-one nieces and nephews worked for their beloved uncle at one point or another.

In his spare time, Chuck enjoyed working on cars, flying planes, playing a scratch ticket or two, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. Chuck also treasured the hours he spent researching his ancestry.

Following his recent retirement, Chuck found that he could not sit still and most recently became an Uber driver. Chuck loved this new hobby and, of course, his ability to put people at ease, along with his endearing personality, made him great at this career too.

Chuck will be forever remembered as a “great guy” as he continually went out of his way for others and his community. His warm smile, giving nature, and kind heart were always sincere and genuine. His love for his family, friends, and community were unwavering. Chuck was a big presence in Wilmington for many years and he will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him.
