WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Community Chorus will hold it’s first gathering and informal rehearsal on Thursday, August 2nd from 7pm to 9pm at The Dance Company, located at 909 Main Street in Wilmington.
The Chorus is open to adult residents of Wilmington and surrounding communities that are looking for an opportunity to be part of a contemporary singing and performing experience. There are no auditions required and all voice parts are welcome.
The Wilmington Community Chorus will be directed by Taunia Soderquist, an alumnus of the Wilmington High School music program. Ms. Soderquist is also the Director of Music at The Academy at Penguin Hall in Wenham, MA where she teaches all of the music curriculum as well as the music performance ensembles.
“I’m excited to be directing a mixed contemporary chorus in Wilmington,” says Soderquist. “I love the idea of our community having a group that is open and inclusive of all singers, with a diverse repertoire of music to showcase the many wonderful singers that I know we have in this community.”
“After living and performing and Southern California for the past several years, I have returned back home to the Wilmington area,” continues Soderquist. “I realized that so many of my former students, friends, and community members were really seeking a group like this in the Wilmington area that they could be part of. Many people step away from music because of the demands of work and family life, and I wanted to provide a low-pressure, but high-energy ensemble that would make everyone feel welcome, energized, and enthusiastic about singing.”
The first rehearsal will be more of a welcome and group discussion with one song rehearsed, and the first full rehearsal will start on August 9th. More information (including music for the first rehearsal) can be found on the website at www.wilmingtonsings.com or by emailing email@example.com.
