READING, MA — The Reading Municipal Light Department is asking Wilmington residents to conserve energy TODAY from 4pm to 7pm as part of its ‘Shred The Peak’ campaign.
“Please reduce your electricity use from 4pm to 7pm to help reduce future power supply costs and keep rates affordable,” reads the RMLD alert.
Tips to conserve include:
- Turn off unnecessary lights and electronics
- Delay using appliances such as washers, dryers, dishwashers, and pool pumps until after the predicted peak window
- Turn your air conditioner down by increasing the temperature setting a few degrees (e.g., from 70 to 74) during the predicted peak window
- Cook dinner on the grill
