OBITUARY: Elna M. (Bradley) McFadden-Santini, 79

WILMINGTON, MA — Elna M. (Bradley) McFadden-Santini, age 79, of Reading, formerly of Lubec, ME, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2018, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.

Elna was born in Lubec, Maine, on April 25, 1939; she was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond and Violet Bradley. Elna was raised in Lubec and was a graduate of Lubec High School with the Class of 1958. Following graduation, Elna went on to further her education at the North Shore Babies’ Hospital in Salem, Massachusetts graduating as a pediatric nurse in 1959.

Elna took a nursing position at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. After marriage she moved to New York City and worked as a nurse at the Home for Little Wanderers. Elna was such a kind and patient person who had an incredible work ethic; she took the utmost care of her patients as well as their families and was a wonderful co-worker throughout the years.

After New York City, Elna took a break from nursing, moved to Reading, Massachusetts where she raised a family of her own. Elna was a very devoted and loving mother and grandmother; she always put her families needs first and she showered them with unconditional love and support. When her family grew up and left “the nest” Elna moved up to New Hampshire where she went back to nursing and did respite care at Pathways of the River in New Hampshire for several years.

When Elna decided to retire for good; she returned to Reading and moved to the Tannerville Retirement Community where she made many friends and enjoyed playing cards. Elna was a choir member of the Old South Methodist Church in Reading. She also enjoyed making friends at A.I.M. in Wilmington and participated at the Wilmington Senior Center where she was involved in their many activities.

In her spare time, Elna enjoyed doing puzzles, going on long walks and following the Boston Red Sox; she was known to be an AVID fan.

Elna will be fondly remembered as a wonderful lady who devoted her life to caring for others; she made quite an impact in many lives and she will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Elna was the devoted mother of Stephanie Donahue & her husband Dennis of Wilmington, Brian McFadden of Lynn, Andrea Marra & her husband Peter of Groveland and Carl McFadden & his wife Jill of Reading, loving grandmother of Amanda, Rachel, Mallory, Meredith, Rebecca, Jennifer, Jake, Will and Kylie, cherished daughter of the late Raymond and Violet (Mahar) Bradley, dear sister of Kenneth Bradley & his wife Joyce of Lubec, ME and the late Bernard. Elna is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will take place in the family lot at Split Hill Cemetery in Lubec, ME at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, donations in Elna’s memory may be made to the Old South Methodist Church, 6 Salem Street, Reading, MA 01867.
