Wilmington Animal Control Officer Reminds Residents: No Dogs On Town Beach, Dog Registration Late Fee Kicks In June 1

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Animal Control Officer Christopher Sullivan recently made a few timely announcements on his Facebook page:

1. It’s May 1st, meaning Town By-Law 27.5 (“Dogs on Public Beaches”) is now is effect. The bylaw states “No dog shall be allowed on a public beach OR Town property ADJACENT to the water from May 1-October 1.”

2. Please register your dog(s) if you have yet to do so. After June 1, you are subject to a $50 fine. Stop by the Town Clerks Office, Room 12 at Town Hall or call 978-658-2030.

3. Warm weather is finally arriving this week. Please do not bring your pets with you in your vehicle to run errands. Would you bring your child and leave them in the car?Absolutely not. And kids don’t have fur. So please, LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME.

Lastly, thank you all for all the continued shares and retweets with lost or found dogs. It helps. Tremendously.

As always, feel free to call me at the station at 978-658-7988 x 5400, email at csullivan@wpd.org or reach out through Facebook, which is not monitored 24/7.
