LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Former Selectwoman Judy O’Connell Endorses Rob Peterson For Town Moderator

Dear Wilmington Residents,

It is with excitement and enthusiasm that I write this letter in support of Rob Peterson as a candidate for re-election as our Wilmington Town Moderator.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Rob as a person and a community leader over the years and I have continued to admire and respect Rob’s commitment and dedication to public service and volunteerism on behalf of the Town of Wilmington.

As our Town Moderator for the past three (3) years, Rob has demonstrated his superior ability to handle this role with fairness, professionalism and respect and he has ensured our annual town meeting has been an open and transparent public forum to conduct the business of the town.

In my opinion, Rob is intelligent, articulate and has the temperament needed to be our Town Moderator as he continues to facilitate many discussions on various topics with the civility and decorum needed to ensure that all residents have an opportunity to participate in our annual town meeting to the fullest extent possible.

In closing, please join me on Saturday, April 28th in voting to re-elect a very deserving candidate, Rob Peterson, as our Town Moderator.  Rob truly is the right choice!  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Judith L. O’Connell

  1. People are being crushed in taxes. The department heads rewarded with big raises and salaries for over budgeting their departments. Free cash is built up from funds obtained deceitfully from over taxation from over budgeting. People are forced out of their homes and their community while REALTORS are scoring financially from real estate commissions. Retired senior citizens are having to go back to work because they cannot afford their taxes. Young parents both are having to work and put their children in day care but unable to save for their child’s college. Students are mortgaging their future.
Question 1: Can a Moderator, who has a relationship to a family law firm that brings business before the town looking for special permits, variances, and other approvals, be trusted with allowing opposition and challenge against the very government that will grant an approval?
Question 2: Has the Moderator broken that trust? Remember his actions are on tape!
Question 3: Can a solution to government financial oppression be attained if people are denied the right to question, expose, challenge, or oppose?

    1. Rebuttal Questions:

      1) Can a candidate for Town Moderator be qualified if all he ever does is bloviate ?

      2) Can a candidate for Town Moderator be trusted with running an efficient town meeting when he is regularly called out of order and escorted out by the police?
